Newly surfaced documents have sparked public discussion regarding claims made by social media personality Eaint Poe Ou, known as Pencilo, about her property in Yangon.

Previously, Pencilo had publicly alleged that military authorities had seized her house following the 2021 political unrest in Myanmar. The claim generated sympathy from supporters who believed her property had been confiscated.

However, documents circulating online appear to show that a loan agreement involving the Yangon property was signed by Pencilo and her husband on January 8, 2021 — prior to her departure from Myanmar for the United States. The documents suggest that the property may have been transferred or claimed by a lender rather than confiscated by authorities.

Supporters argue that additional context may still be needed to fully understand the situation, while others have expressed disappointment, stating that they initially sympathized with her claim that the property had been seized.

Background on the Property Claim

The property currently described as “confiscated” was reportedly acquired through a loan arrangement involving politicians affiliated with the National League for Democracy (NLD). Several individuals connected to that political group were later imprisoned on allegations of misusing government funds.

Prior to gaining political support and leverage associated with the NLD, she was residing in a rental home, as reflected in the image shown below.

Documentation also indicates that the property had been transferred to a bank before her departure from Myanmar, as shown in the records below.
