After purchasing a multi-million-dollar home shortly after opening two retail stores, Pencilo has come under renewed scrutiny from members of the Myanmar community.
A video circulating online shows Pencilo criticizing members of the Myanmar community who arrived in the United States before her, describing them as unsuccessful and claiming that they had not achieved the same financial success she has.
The remarks sparked backlash within parts of the Burmese community. Critics responded by questioning her refugee status and raising concerns about her rapid financial growth, alleging that she accumulated significant funds without conventional employment and purchased two shops and two houses within two years of arriving in the United States.
Some individuals have called for authorities, including the FBI, to review the matter.
In a subsequent live broadcast, Pencilo addressed the criticism, stating that she was not afraid of any investigation, including by the FBI. During the broadcast, she used the phrase “even if there is a father of the FBI,” suggesting that she would not be intimidated by any level of authority.
