TOKYO, Japan — November 16, 2025 — Myanmar martial arts legend Aung La N Sang was officially inducted into the ONE Championship Hall of Fame during ONE 173 in Tokyo, solidifying his place among the most influential figures in global combat sports.
The Hall of Fame honor was personally presented by ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, recognizing Aung La N Sang’s historic achievements inside the cage and his impact beyond sports as a cultural icon for Myanmar.
Widely known as “The Burmese Python,” Aung La N Sang became only the third athlete in ONE Championship history to receive the prestigious honor, joining MMA legends Demetrious Johnson and Bibiano Fernandes in the exclusive Hall of Fame class.
During the emotional induction ceremony, Aung La addressed the people of Myanmar directly, expressing gratitude for the support that carried him from humble beginnings to becoming the organization’s first-ever Myanmar two-division world champion.
“Myanmar has always been in my heart,” Aung La said during his speech. “Everything I achieved was because of the people who believed in me from the very beginning.”
Aung La N Sang officially retired from professional competition earlier in 2025 after defeating former welterweight champion Zebaztian Kadestam by second-round TKO in a memorable farewell performance at ONE Fight Night 36. The victory earned him a $50,000 performance bonus and marked a fitting conclusion to one of the most celebrated careers in Asian mixed martial arts history.
Throughout his career, Aung La became famous for his championship victories over elite opponents, including capturing the ONE Middleweight World Title from Vitaly Bigdash in 2017 and defending his legacy in several blockbuster title fights. His success transformed him into one of Myanmar’s most recognized international sports figures.
Following retirement, Aung La N Sang announced that he is now focusing fully on coaching and mentorship through Python MMA, where he plans to train and develop the next generation of martial artists.
