BANGKOK, Thailand — Myanmar combat sports icon Aung La N Sang officially closed the final chapter of his legendary fighting career with a memorable victory at ONE Fight Night 36 on October 3, 2025, delivering what many fans described as a perfect farewell performance.
Known globally as “The Burmese Python,” Aung La N Sang defeated former welterweight world champion Zebaztian Kadestam via second-round TKO in his retirement bout, showcasing the same explosive power and composure that made him one of the most celebrated athletes in Myanmar sports history.
The victory earned the former two-division ONE World Champion a $50,000 performance bonus, while ONE Championship later confirmed that Aung La N Sang would be inducted into the organization’s prestigious Hall of Fame in recognition of his historic contributions to the sport.
Aung La N Sang became a national hero after capturing the ONE Middleweight World Title from Vitaly Bigdash in 2017 and later defending his championship in several high-profile bouts, including his memorable knockout victory over heavyweight champion Brandon Vera. His achievements helped elevate Myanmar’s presence on the international martial arts stage and inspired a new generation of fighters from the country.
While Aung La N Sang’s career has reached its celebrated conclusion, Myanmar’s next wave of athletes continues to battle through increasingly difficult competition. Rising striker Thant Zin has recently faced a series of challenging matchups against elite stadium veterans in ONE Championship, testing his skills against some of the sport’s most experienced fighters.
Despite the difficult path, many fans and analysts believe the continued emergence of Myanmar athletes in global combat sports reflects the growing influence and resilience of the country’s martial arts culture.
